Make Ready

“MCI” is being used as an example of company name, adjust to project specific. Also all heights are necessary placeholders, adjust when necessary.

Rule 1

When completing a make ready everything must be listed in order that the construction company would need to complete to install the new fiber.

Order of Notes

Fiber relocation > Place fiber Crossarms > Placing of anchors > Attaching Down guys > Attaching Messenger w/ fiber > Placing guard arm

RULE 2

Make sure that we attach at least 12” above or below any existing comms. If we take HIGHEST position or LOWEST position, we must keep that position the ENTIRE run. We can not cross with other comms, that is a GO95 infraction.

RULE 3

When introducing a new drill hole into a pole, whether it be for an arm, down guy or 3 bolt suspension clamp it must be a minimum 4” from an existing hole in the pole. If we do not give this clearance than it will be REJECTED for being a GO95 infraction.

RULE 4

When attaching to a crossarm we want BOP (bottom outside position). Other verbiage for arm positioning, BMP (bottom middle position, BIP (bottom inside position), TOP (top outside position), TMP (top middle position, and TIP (top inside position).

RULE 5

Remember when proposing new fiber WE MUST BE AT LEAST 6’ AWAY from distribution power, or 4’ away from distribution IF WE INSTALL A GUARD ARM.

RULE 6

When describing heights use the format of FEET AND INCHES, ie. 25’6”.

RULE 7

When placing a new down guy it CANNOT cross another down guy. They must be attached to anchors in order. If they are going to cross you must transfer DNG to another anchor to resolve the issue.

RULE 8

When fiber goes underground we must place BONDING & GROUNDING

RULE 9

When placing a riser, 12 o’clock is ALWAYS curbside. Take in consideration any existing risers, and must leave sufficient climbing space on the pole. 3 & 9 o’clock are the optimal potential locations for a riser.
